Andrew Thomas

Hey y’all, Andrew Thomas speaking! I’m one of several ‘Andrews’ on the team, and one of your six 2017 LBJ Cross Country Captains! Just a little about me, I excel at pop song memorization, movie quoting, and making obscure Star Wars references all hours of the day. I am both a senior AND a first time captain this year, so things are gonna be pretty exciting this season. I’ve been running since I was about five years old, going to races like the Turkey Trot and Austin 5k with my parents, then started competitively running track in the 7th grade. I joined cross country (XC as the cool kids say) my sophomore year of highschool, and I’ve stuck with it ever since. If you’re considering joining this year, do it! You won’t regret it, I guarantee. If you are joining this year, welcome! You’ve made a good decision! My greatest regret in life is, by far, not joining the team my freshman year, as XC has easily become my favorite thing about my school. Not only has it pushed me to accomplish physical feats I didn’t know I was capable of, but the comradery, experiences, and friendships forged through each season are things that I have come to cherish. Cross Country is a team sport, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a group more tightly bonded than our team. As a captain, I hope to continue, or for those joining this year, to extend that experience to each and every person on the team! Whether you need motivation, friendship, assistance, wisdom (I may be lacking in that department) or anything, I hope that I, and the rest of the team, can be there to provide that for you. If you ever need to find me at practice, at a meet, or at school, just follow the sound of the ‘Kim Possible’ theme song being played on an out of tune flute and you’ll bump into me pretty quickly. Download the “Remind” app, adjust your ears for spongebob trap remixes, set a 5:00 am alarm, and get ready for an exciting season! I can’t wait to run alongside all the returning and new faces this year!

P.S. For the record, it’s spelled “carioca”
